Friday Pavilion BBQ at the Elks: Every
Friday from 5pm - 8pm Red Hook - Rhinebeck Elks Lodge hosts a BBQ. This
is open to all and a great destination if you're out riding. We havefood (I try to vary the menu, usually dogs and burgers, salads
and something like pork chops, or chilli, or roast beef), and beer
for $8. If you just want to eat it's $5. We have volleyball
and horse shoes and tunes on the boombox. Bring your favorite CD!
Things
of Note:
Beginning Sunday, 5/26 the Lantern Restaurant in Ashley
Falls MA will have a free pig roast every other Sunday
for the summer. This is a great time (see the picture above) - be there
by 1pm if you want to eat. Also beginning 5/26 The Yacht Club
in Tannersville, NY begins their free Sunday BBQ.
This is every Sunday. I haven't been yet but I've heard that it's good
and that they have london broil and saussage and peppers in addition to
hot dogs and burgers.

First
Ride of 2002! March 9th!! It was a great day for riding. The Temperature
hit 70. Six of us did about 150 miles that day. From The Elks Lodge in
Red Hook we went south to Pleasant Valley (The
Roadhouse: pic

) and then east into Connecticut as far as Torrington (Dawn's:

From there we went north to Cannan Ct. (The Lantern)
and back west on Route 44 through Lakeville, Pine Plains, and finally
Red Hook.
It was a bittersweet day for us because one of our last stops was at the
wake for good friend Dan Savery who died before his time on the New York
State Thruway earlier in the week. After the wake we adjorned to the Elks
Lodge to hoist a few in Dan's memory. pic_1 pic
